The role

The Scrum Master is responsible for enabling agile teams to successfully deliver projects within the Agile Life Cycle, from concept to cash. This individual will have a strong track record of guiding and motivating Scrum teams in fast paced organizations where time to market, quality and managing emergent change well are critical to the company’s success. The Scrum Master will also be capable of coaching the Scrum Team on the Scrum methodology, agile principles and behaviours if required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates effective Scrum events according to the PPB Scrum methodology & guidelines;
  • Facilitates an effective application of Kanban according to the PPB methodology & guidelines;
  • Facilitates the removal of impediments to the team’s progress;
  • Protects the team from interruptions and interferences;
  • Works with more than two Scrum/Kanban teams;
  • Works with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum/Kanban in the organization;
  • Helps the team to become self-organizing;
  • Encourages team members to remove process bottlenecks by taking in tasks outside their main field of expertise;
  • Motivates the team;
  • Has the responsibility for facilitating process improvement;
  • Facilitates ramp-up meetings; Makes sure a common way of working is agreed;
  • Follows the PPB ways of working; Works with the DM/PO to prevent any hidden work;
  • Keeps the team’s focus on the top projects, making sure the resource model is followed;
  • Removes any impediments raised by the team related with getting access to the appropriate tools and environments;
  • Responsible for organizing Post Incident Review meetings;
  • Makes sure the Change process is followed; Responsible for release planning and tracking;
  • Responsible for aligning all the Scrum teams involved in the release (when the team owns the release/component);
  • Promotes excellent team communication by facilitating discussion, decision making and conflict resolution;
  • Builds strong relationships with key stakeholders based on mutual respect, openness and transparency;
  • Tracks and reports sprint and release progress (tracks and reports KPIs) and makes sure the KPIs are according to the guidelines;
  • Responsible for tracking internal and external dependencies (incl. 3rd Party);
  • Works together with the team/Delivery Managers / PO/PM/Commercial leads to track delivery risks and issues and implement mitigation plans;
  • Guides the team on how to use Agile and Scrum practices, values and tools.

  • Works well under time and environmental pressures.

Key Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Proven experience in guiding teams;
  • Has knowledge of various patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (i.e. estimating techniques, retrospective formats, handling bugs);
  • Has knowledge and experience of Scrum methodology, best practices and tools;
  • Formal qualification in one of the following: Agile (Scrum, Kanban, LEAN), PMI, Prince2, etc. is considered a plus;
  • Experience: 3+ years (guideline only)
