A Betfair Network Engineer is responsible and accountable technical implementations and support of our secure multinational network, both Datacentre based, but also global corporate.
You will have experience of working in high impact, mission-critical environments where service matters and exceeding expectations are the norms.
You will be an excellent communicator and able to work across multiple stakeholder groups, providing clear and concise problem definitions as well as prompt resolutions.
You will be familiar with a variety of testing tools, automation, networking technologies and techniques to accurately troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems associated with the service, application and network hardware and software.
You will have excellent stakeholder management skills working with technical and non-technical people
Must have experience in implementing and maintaining enterprise-class networks, preferably supporting an e-commerce application development environment.
Must have specific domain expertise of large production Wide Area Networks. This role requires a strong background in Layer 2, Layer 3 & Layer 4-7 routing, switching technologies.
Adhere and maintain network and company standards and documentation.
Perform analytical and technical work in the installation and on-going administration and management of core data, WAN, Datacentre.
Ensure that where possible automation tools are used for any changes.
Ensure that the network infrastructure is fully documented and performing as required for internal and customer SLA guarantees and expectations by means of specific metrics and measurements.
Provide technical expertise and support in the on-going maintenance and surveillance of related networks and applications.
Be part of an On-Call rotation.
Essential Skills & Experience
The candidate should be proficient in the following technologies:
Network Security Technologies (Firewall, IDS, IPS, IPSec VPN)
MPLS, BGP, and OSPF routing
Multi-homed load balancing and traffic engineering for automatic failover
Use of policy maps for routing
Operate autonomously without supervision
You will be interested in automation and have evidence of where you have helped with automation efforts.
Knowledge of the following products is required:
Juniper Netscreen and SRX Firewalls
Cisco ASA Firewalls
DDOS mitigation techniques and technologies
Cisco IOS Nexus switching lines
Cisco ASR and ISR routers
Network automation technologies
Desirable Skills & Experience
Palo Alto Next-Gen Firewalls
Experience with Infoblox / IPAM, Solarwinds, ServiceNow
Experience with Server Load-Balancing and GSLB technologies
Minimum Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP). Equivalent demonstrable experience and knowledge will be considered.
