Sports Operator

Department Overview:

The Risk and Trading function within Paddy Power Betfair works with various functions across the Group striving to deliver industry leading sports betting product, pricing and customer experience. The function is split into three Risk & Trading verticals (Racing, Football and Sports), an analytics & modelling team, an operations team and a trading product team. We strive for excellence in every aspect of the operation and look for people who are numerate, smart and ambitious to take on leadership roles within the function.

Exchange Ops is a proactive, customer obsessed, data-driven team responsible for managing the day to day running of Betfair’s Exchange as well as driving the strategic development of the Exchange proposition. The team is expected to manage Exchange markets flawlessly to ensure the best possible customer experience and, working closely with teams across the business such as Trading, Product, Commercial, Marketing & Technology to devise, optimise and deliver strategies to leverage the many strengths and benefits of the Exchange for Betfair’s customers.

Role Overview/Purpose:

This role involves working in rotating shifts. The business schedule includes day shifts (9 A.M. to 12 P.M. timeframe), weekends included. Night shifts might occur, according to the business needs.

In this entry-level position you will be responsible for the supporting the Betfair Exchange and both the Paddy Power and Betfair Sportsbooks in a wide range of tasks in order to facilitate the business in delivering the best customer experience and product offering. It also provides the opportunity to contribute to the evolution of the Exchange and Sportsbook products and gain exposure to the key operations of what makes an industry leading betting company. This position can provide a solid platform for progression throughout the organisation for high performing successful applicants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Exchange and Trading teams with the creation, management and settling of events and markets
  • Working with the teams to ensure we have relevant and accurate content onsite
  • Conducting regular and timely checks of our markets across Exchange and Sportsbook and escalate any gaps
  • Responsible for ensuring all of our Live Video streams and In Play data appear on our site
  • Execute operational best practice while consistently providing ways to improve operational processes to drive departmental efficiencies
  • Supporting the Trading & Exchange teams to ensure critical operational tasks are completed to a high standard
  • Seek to improve, optimise and evolve current working practices to drive efficiency and quality

Education, Technical Competencies & Experience

  • Higher Education, qualifications in numerical based subjects desirable
  • A passion for Sports
  • An interest in betting and knowledge of both fixed odds and exchange betting
  • Proficient Microsoft Office user, particularly Excel
  • Minimum of 1 years’ relevant experience in an operational capacity desirable
  • Proven track record of delivering targets
  • Experience working in a team and helping to create a proactive team environment.

UI/Front-end Developer

• HTML, CSS, Javascript basic knowledge

Data Security

The Data Security intern will play an important part in ensuring that only the right people have access to PPB systems.  The team is currently running an Access Governance program to systematically assess and improve the access controls applied to our systems.  On a day to day basis you will be focused on running access reviews within Sailpoint, responding to Sailpoint events and providing systems support for the Data Security tools.  In addition, the team manages the Data Loss Prevention system and the successful candidate will also be expected to respond to and investigate data loss events.


Security Operations (SOC)

Role Purpose:

The Security Operations Intern is a member of the Paddy Power Betfair security team, reporting to the Security Operations Manager.

The Security Operations Intern is responsible for the day to day security monitoring of Paddy Power Betfair’s enterprise information systems, data loss prevention investigations and content filtering analysis. The team ensures that information security threats and incidents are detected quickly, responded to swiftly and efficiently, and contained so as to minimise the impact to the organisation.


  • Data loss prevention investigations
  • Content filtering analysis
  • Managing and monitoring other key security tools
  • Work on security related requests
  • Support efforts to improve security posture
  • Assist with forensics analysis and fact gathering.
  • Assist with vulnerability assessments
  • Continuous focus on service improvement
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Key Strengths:

  • Basic understanding of networking protocols and operating systems.
  • Understanding of Python, Java, or similar scripting/programming languages.
  • General understanding of information security practices.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work in a team fostered, fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Enthusiastic, with a drive to continue learning and developing new skills

Ideal candidate:

  • Industry certification from vendors: Cisco, Juniper, CompTIA, ITIL, Unix, Microsoft
  • Previous experience in adjacent areas such as, Security Operations Center, Network Operations Center, System Administrator, Platform/Tool Support Engineer, IT Helpdesk support
Events Assistant

Role Overview/Purpose:

The Internship Events Assistant is part of the Relations Management Department and is passionate about developing and implementing internal and external events concepts in alignment with the events roadmap. This internship carries out cool responsibilities such as: attending events on behalf of the company, logistics arrangement of specific events, promotional campaigns ‘implementation in the appropriate channels, execution of events from concept to reality. The position is a wizard interacting and works closely with the Relations Managers and other relevant internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administers various events plans and attends the events on behalf of the company
  • Assists in the development and implementation of site events and conferences
  • Creates and publishes social media content prior and post events communications
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results post events
  • Maintain the events suppliers’ database and identify new suppliers utilized during an event lifecycle, maintaining consistency to Paddy Power Betfair procurement standards
  • Works closely with the Finance, HR, Talent Management, Legal in terms of events set up and procurement policies
  • Assists with reviewing and updating the Events Roadmap as required

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, relationship building and influencing skills
  • Self-motivated and ability to work on own initiative, prioritize work and deliver results
  • Excellent administration and organization skills, strong attention to detail
  • Problem solving and orientation towards solutions identification
